A proactive service which enhances creativity
The DAKS name, synonymous with style and elegance, boasts a heritage dating back to 1894. It is one of the British luxury fashion brands recognised around the world.
To showcase its collection at London Fashion Week, DAKS commissioned Park to work with their in-house design team to create two ‘look books’. The specification, like the collection, was inspired by the Shetland Islands and Scandinavia. The season’s theme, ‘Kingdoms of the North’, focused on the combination of tradition and innovation.
Texture was important and would help to imitate fabric. Park recommended the use of patterned substrates: Strathmore Grandee, a textured paper with a tactile richness, for the cover and first leaf of text, and a fabric-embossed Colourplan paper for the dust jacket. Double foiling on the dust jacket helped to create the impression of quality and luxury.
Hi-res Epson proofs run to FOGRA standards were produced and ISO 12647 colour management targets ensured accurate colour reproduction. A subtle gloss varnish was applied off-line, to help lift the images from the matt paper.
Proofing, corrections, printing and binding were carried out in-house and the entire production project managed by Park. To ensure the highest quality foiling and timely completion, a member of the Park production team passed the foiling at the specialist sub-contractor.
