The Journal: sustainable brand magazine for London Hilton
The London Hilton came to Park to print their quarterly magazine for guests, The Journal. Issue 3 celebrated the hotel’s 60th year.
The eye-catching issue draws in the reader, with a vibrant cover design and a short cover wrap detailing the magazine’s contents. A pull-out poster is included inside, which celebrates life in 1963, the year the London Hilton opened on Park Lane.
The Hilton team wanted to ensure that the magazine was produced sustainably, choosing Park for our environmentally-friendly production – including our use of green energy, vegetable-based inks, and recycling of waste.
Cyclus, a 100% recycled stock, was used in different weights for the cover and text pages. This uncoated material added tactility to the production and avoided the need for a protective plastic laminate on the cover.
Being a carbon-neutral printer, any emissions created during the production process at Park’s facility had already been offset. The Journal’s creators also opted to offset the carbon produced during paper production and transport, by supporting Climate Partner’s Improved Cookstove project in Nigeria, which provides clean and safe cooking for Nigerian families.
To highlight their sustainable efforts to readers, an environmental imprint was added to the back of the short cover, including a QR code which links to more information about their chosen carbon offset project.
