Rooms with a view: art portfolio book
Gary Bunt is one of the UK’s leading artists, best known for his paintings of the English suburbs and countryside.
Rooms with a View was created to display Bunt’s latest work, in the form of a case bound book.
It was essential that the book accurately reproduced Bunt’s work, so Park worked closely with the book’s designer through every step of the production process.
The text pages were printed sheet work on Novatech Matt 170gsm. This technique involves printing each side of the paper separately, in order to achieve the highest quality reproduction. The Novatech stock lent a luxurious feel, and allowed for superb reproduction of Bunt’s images. A protective coat was added to protect the pages from repeated handling.
Following a successful previous edition, the artist and his designer entrusted press-passing to the Park team.
We also advised on materials, thickness of the casing board, and post-production finishes. The book was case bound, with a case wrap in Wibalin Finelinen Old Gold and a spine quarter bound in Wibalin Finelinen Ruby.
The title on the cover was foiled in red with the name Gary Blunt blind debossed to run parallel with the spine, whilst the spine was foiled in white. The end papers for this production were printed solid grey, using Pantone 414u on Arena Smooth paper.
The final result was an eye-catching high quality production which was also environmentally friendly. Park’s facility runs on green energy, and has a robust environmental management programme which is certified to ISO 14001.
