Kinfolk Magazine: printing, retouching & reprographics
Leading indie lifestyle magazine Kinfolk had previously outsourced its image retouching to a third party agency. After printing their previous issue with Park, they decided to trust our in-house reprography in bringing their commissioned photography to life.
We worked alongside Kinfolk’s designer, adjusting colour to add contrast and brightness to the imagery, in turn, allowing us to faithfully reproduce original photography and textiles.
Kinfolk had previously experienced inconsistencies in colour between retouched images and its printed magazine. At Park, our ISO 12647 colour-calibrated repro and presses ensured that there were no discrepancies, with our final product proving faithful to the original imagery.
Initial Epson proofs were delivered to the magazine’s offices in London and Copenhagen. After colour corrections were sent back to us, we retouched images overnight and delivered revised Epson proofs to the customer the next morning
An imposed online proof was provided through Portal, Park’s collaborative online proofing system which allows multiple users to review and make annotated comments on the proofs.
Park’s in-house repro team worked efficiently, helping to minimise Kinfolk’s costs, delivering the issue two days quicker than the magazine’s typical production schedule.
