Outdoor large-format printing for London Met
London Metropolitan University was invited by BAM Construction and Frasers Property to showcase students’ artwork on a construction site on Whitechapel High Street.
As incumbent large format printer for London Met, Park was already trusted by their head of department to guide them through complicated, bespoke installations.
The consultation process threw up through up a number of tricky requirements.
There was the need to ensure positioning of graphics did not get hidden by legal signage and lighting. Materials were a particular challenge. The signage needed to adhere to various wooden surfaces, appear in consistent colours, anti-graffiti coatings were required, and the artwork needed to be colourfast for two years.
The Display by Park studio received the students’ artwork, and positioned and manipulated the images to bring their punchy, vibrant colours to bear in the finished designs.
Installation stared early, at 5am, to avoid the crowds the busy bus stop area, and was completed within eight hours, leaving three happy clients, three proud student artists, and one London construction site made prettier by Park.
