Oath: photography magazine printing in 4-colour black
Oath hails from South Africa. Publisher Stephanie Blomkamp was happy with her local printer, but the cost of global distribution from her home country was too great.
This brought her in search of a UK partner, and Park was one of a number of printers shortlisted. Ultimately, it was our experience in colour and black-and-white photography printing which won us the project.
Our expert repro team neutralised the black and white image in order to hold colours neutral. We then printed them in a four-colour black in order to add richness and depth, and faithfully reproduce the heavy uses of shadow in Blomkamp’s curation.
Park consulted with the client on how to match the materials which had been used in South Africa. We selected Edixion Offset, a high-opacity, high-bulking paper, as text stock. The cover was printed on GalerieArt Matt, and finished in soft-touch laminate.
Following a successful reprint of Issue 1, Oath has decided to stick with Park for future issues – another proud addition to our portfolio of fine art magazines.
Client testimonial
Oath is more than a magazine, it’s a manifestation of our ideals. I was looking for a print house that understood what Oath stands for and could help create the publication's look and feel, with the right balance of colour, black and white. Park did just that and were great to work with. From the manager to the factory staff I felt Oath was in great hands.
