Marchant Asian Art: retouching & catalogue printing

Marchant came to Park to print the catalogue for their 2021 Chinese porcelain exhibition, Famille Verte from Private Collections. Founded in 1925 and family-run, the business specialises in Imperial Chinese Ming and Qing pottery and art with an emphasis on rarity, quality, and provenance.

This called for a suitably special catalogue. Park profiled the client’s images for a coated stock and then supplied hi-resolution Epson proofs, before retouching the photos according to the customer’s brief in order to create truer-to-life images of the art pieces. A gloss coat was also applied to add lift and vibrancy to these images.

We also applied an anti-scuff matt laminate to protect the cover and used a spot UV varnish to highlight the images on the cover and flaps.

The catalogue text was printed on a Novatech Matt 170 gsm, a weighty paper which enhanced the luxurious feel of the catalogue.

Thread sewing, carried out in house, enabled the catalogue to open flat, for ease of reading.

The copies were shrink-wrapped and inserted into protective mailing wrappers, keeping them pristine upon delivery.
