Christie’s auction catalogue printing: the ‘old masters’ sale
Occasionally, even Park’s superior standards get taken up a notch for the most important briefs.
Christie’s needed to show every lot of the ‘Old Masters’ fine art sale at its finest. Above and beyond our class-leading ISO 12647 colour management standard, this entailed measuring every sheet for dot gain and grey balance to ensure pixel-perfect colour reproduction.
A custom feature in this production was short-width throw-out page, which required care to ensure it did not cause marking.
Finally, a two-stage PUR binding process was completed in house, providing the extra strength needed to hold together the large number of binding sections.
To meet a tight, five-day deadline, the production was completed without proofs. For most printers, and most clients, that would be seen as a risk. But thanks to our longstanding relationship with Christie’s, we are proud to hold ‘Gold’ supplier status – a sign of the auction house’s trust in Park for most complex and time-sensitive projects.
Client testimonial
"Park is one of only a small number of printers entrusted to print the catalogues for our highest value sales. Despite last minute schedule and pagination changes, and in conjunction with complex impositions and bindery requirements, Park consistently delivers the catalogues to a high standard."
