Book printing & in-house reprographics for Rankin’s 2020
While many of us might sooner forget 2020, Park helped celebrate the year’s brighter moments through our collaboration with Rankin, one of the UK’s most revered fashion photographers.
Rankin’s 2020, a program commissioned by Sky Arts, featured the photography of the UK public, celebrating the fun, beautiful and empathetic moments that illuminated a difficult yet extraordinary year. Park was asked to print a book of the photography featured in the series, for general sale.
The process started with scatter-proofs being shared with the customer, ensuring that the imagery included was accurate and detailed. The client was happy to proceed, entrusting Park to print the remaining photography without seeing further hi-res proofs.
An aquamarine colour motif runs through the publication, highlighting the cover and the text stock. This presented a technically demanding brief, as the four-colour printed background needed to remain consistent, while not compromising the accuracy of the image reproduction.
Our skilled reprographics team and carefully-maintained presses were more than up to the task, ensuring colour accuracy throughout, with particular attention paid to the neutrality of the whites and blacks.
Soft-touch lamination added tactility to the case-bound cover, while Galerie Satin 150gsm stock gave the book a weighty and substantial feel. Head and tail bands provide a luxurious finish to this stunning collection of photography, which was thread-sewn in house.
Client testimonial
In a difficult year and with a project with a fast turn around we couldn’t have been asking for more from Park. With their strong communication and fast turn around on PDF and scatter-proofs we knew we were in good hands! Reproduction quality was great across so many different types of imagery and the final product exceeded all expectations.
