Award-winning catalogue printing for Freeman’s
‘An excellent example of high-end quality catalogue production.’
Print, Design and Marketing Awards 2018
Freeman’s, America’s oldest auction house, were auctioning the estate of philanthropist Dorrance Hamilton. They wanted a knockout catalogue to pique interests and capture Hamilton’s spirit.
We worked closely with Freeman’s throughout the process, using our vast experience in catalogue printing to create an award-winning product.
Park drew audiences in with multi-level embossing on the cover and a grand gold spine, and used fold-out, double-page spreads to showcase pieces by the likes of Gaugin and Cezanne. Dividers for the fine art, furniture and jewellery sections were also finished with an embossed matt gold foil.
Floral motifs, including a frontispiece recreated on luxurious translucent paper, channelled Hamilton’s passion for the environment.
We suggested Wibalin Natural 320gsm for the 8pp uncoated cream cover. Not only did this textured and weighty stock add to the premium feel of the finished cover, it was also highly cost-effective, saving the client a large sum when compared to other popular choices.
Galerie Matt 150gsm, protected with a neutral coat, was chosen for the text, as its matt finish gave a contrast to the cover stock.
Park’s Colour Manager personally oversaw the entire process. The main images were Epson scatter-proofed early on to guarantee timely delivery of the perfect finished product to the US-based client.
Having started production of the cover and dividers five days in advance of the text page, we were able to print and bind the catalogue within five working days.
