Associated British Foods plc is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with sales of £13.4bn, 124,000 employees and operations in 48 counties across Europe, southern Africa, the Americas, Asia and Australia.
Associated British Foods plc aims to consistently deliver value, the Annual Report is used by ABF plc as a prime marketing tool in conveying their strategy to stakeholders.
ABF plc delivered a strong operational performance in 2016 and the Annual Report was to convey the progress in each of the five strategic business segments: Grocery, Sugar, Agriculture, Ingredients and Retail. As each business segment was clearly identified with short pages each in a specific colour, colour consistency and accurate binding within the report was imperative.
A key requirement of the project was to complete production within an exceptionally fast 3 working days, in order to meet the ‘no-fail’ despatch date to the client’s overseas offices. The job was passed for press on 4/11/16, advance deliveries were required on the 9/11/16 and mailing completed on the 10/11/16.
To ensure that the key messages and images were vibrant and captivating, Park applied a high gloss male and neutral female varnish with excellent fit. A neutral sealer was used for the background and a gloss varnish was used on the areas to be highlighted.
A 200# screen and profiles specially developed for the coated materials, were used to achieve the very best production.
Extensive proofing included on-press machine scatter-proofs, high resolution Epson’s run to FOGRA standards and an Indigo book proof. 5 stages of extensive author’s corrections and reproofing (from 13:00 to 20:00hrs) were completed on the day of sign off. Once passed at 20:00hrs, we started to print within the hour.
To maximise colour consistency, Park adhered to ISO 12647-2 (2013) colour standard, we accurately matched the signed-off proofs while the customer passed the cover and first few sections on press.
Print production, folding and binding were completed in-house, while a member of the production team supervised the silk lamination at the outworkers.
